Toby Henderson has been splitting time between top-dog duties at Box Components, and a many-hats role at the American BMX Company, which revived and reimagined the Race inc. line of products. Since he joined the newly-restarted brand, a little over two years ago (see bmxnews September 8, 2021), the brand released some impressive product, and made the pretty-promises of the mockups and prototypes come true.
This week, Toby posted a press release on social media channels stating the following (edited slightly by News for brevity):
Toby Henderson Announces Departure from American BMX Company
After a distinguished and impactful tenure with American BMX Company, Toby Henderson announces his departure from the company, effective November 2023. This transition marks the end of a successful chapter and opens the door to new opportunities for both parties.
Toby is a well-respected figure in the BMX and MTB industry, boasting an impressive legacy as a multi-time bicycle champion in both BMX and MTB disciplines. With an extraordinary track record as an award-winning product developer (having received 20 industry accolades), Toby Henderson has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation in the industry.
Throughout his career, Toby has not only excelled as an athlete and innovator but has also played a vital role in the industry’s business landscape. He has founded, acquired, and overseen numerous brands, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. tobyhenderson.com
“I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the growth and development of American BMX Company,” Toby commented on his departure. “I am proud of the accomplishments we’ve achieved together and am excited to see the company’s continued success.”
This transition is taking place on amicable terms, with both Toby and American BMX Company expressing gratitude for the collaboration and mutual respect for one another’s future endeavors.
Looking ahead, Toby is eager to explore new opportunities in the industry, drawing on his wealth of experience and passion for innovation.
Now that this news is in, it sort-of makes sense seeing a new bike brand, “Syndyt,” that Toby’s name has been attached to, and was big in the pit chatter at the Grands, last month.
We’re keeping a close eye on the latest from Team Toby, and will report developments, as they cross the wire.
